Lycopene
Lycopene is a bright red carotene and carotenoid pigment and phytochemical found in high concentrations in vegetables such as tomatoes and other red fruits and vegetables, such as red carrots, watermelons, pink grapefruit and papayas (but not strawberries or cherries).
Lycopene is commonly found in diets, mainly due to its properties to stimulate the digestive system. When absorbed from the stomach, Lycopene is transported in the blood by various lipoproteins and accumulates in the liver, adrenal glands, and testes.
In addition, Lycopene is a very efficient antioxidant, which can neutralize the oxidative damage from free radicals (that has been linked to many degenerative diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, premature aging, cancer and cataracts). Lycopene is generally known for its protective action against prostate cancer
